Online Social: The Lord's Apprentice

We know that improv classes aren’t just about scenes and characters and games (much though we love all those things). They are also about making friends across the rapidly-expanding global improv community.

So how about hanging out with improvisers and not doing any improv?

Our online social events are open to anyone from Manila to Manchester, London UK to London Ontario. Not just Nursery students and performers either, but anyone who cares to pop by. They are also totally free (though donations are welcome). Each month we host a different activity run by an improviser, for improvisers, followed by an opportunity to chat and hang out with a cup of tea, a beer or your choice of refreshment.

Lord Sugarplums is ready to put the candidates through their paces.

Prepare to take obscure products to market and fight it out in the boardroom in the game that means business!

Your live gaming experience will be hosted by Lord Sugarplums and his minions at your appointed start time.

So what’s going to happen exactly?

That’s a smart question.

You and your fellow contenders will be put into teams to create one minute pitches for bizarre business ideas. This may be something along the lines of ‘Winter fashion for giraffes’ or ‘a holiday home for clowns’.

Each team then gets five minutes to organise their pitch before they present to Lord Sugarplums himself.

Points will be scored for your team’s pitch, but while there is no ‘i’ in team, there is in ‘apprentice’! So you will also be scored for underhanded tactics in the boardroom to prevent yourself being FIRED!

At the end of the game the Lord’s Apprentice will be chosen and receive a prize.

This experience requires you to become a hard-nosed business game show contender!

You’ll be asked to rename yourself before play, so you can take on the persona of an apprentice candidate. You may improvise with your appearance, or any other means to impress Lord Sugarplums. You’ll also need a pen and paper for your presentations.

• Presentation
• Extra effort

Lord Sugarplums loves boardroom drama! So you will also be scored for…

• Passion
• Blowing your own trumpet
• Plum licking (with your brownest nose)
• Impenetrable professionalism (empathy is weakness!)
• Throwing other contenders under the bus!

You must address Lord Sugarplums correctly or fall victim to his fat firing finger!

NOTE: This game is all about FUN! It is a safe and supportive space to take on the role of a ruthless gameshow candidate who may lie and cheat to justify their existence, while maintaining jovial human dignity and respect for the other players. Enjoy!
