It’s a Family Thing: An Online Improv Course for Grandparents and Grandchildren

In collaboration with Grandparents Unleashed

Photography: Sofie King

The Nursery/Maydays are happy to partner with Grandparents Unleashed to offer this specialty workshop specifically designed to get grandparents and grandchildren in different locations relating and playing together in a brand new way. Through the storytelling and games that you’ll learn with us, your intergenerational family will discover new ways to connect (and laugh!) with one another.

The first two weeks of this course will have the grandparents and grandchildren meeting together and then separating and working with their peers to learn the basics of improv and storytelling. The second two weeks will bring the groups together for the entire class to have grandparents and grandchildren playing along side of one another, culminating with a private performance for family and friends.

No theater experience is required. This is all about spontaneous fun bringing you and your grandchild closer together.

What grandchildren can expect from this class:

Meeting new people and working as part of a team

A place to practice your leadership skills and let your confidence shine

Letting your imagination run wild

A peek inside their grandparent’s world

What grandparents can expect from this class:

Rediscovering a sense of play

Listening to understand

Embracing the unknown

Letting YOUR imagination run wild

A peek inside their grandchild’s world

Who this is for: We include Chosen Families in our definition of families. Grands can also gift this intergenerational experience to grandnieces, nephews, grandgodchildren, and niblings. If you aren’t sure if this class is right for you or if you have any questions, please email us at classes@thenurserytheatre.com

Grandparents will receive a digital list of resources so that they can continue to study and utilize improvisation outside of class.

Price: £190 for an adult and child.

We know that improvisation strengthens the communication and connections between individuals and we want to show the world. Parents will be contacted before the class begins and participants will be asked to complete a brief survey at the beginning and end of the session.

Want to take this course but at a different time? Have multiple grandparents or grandchildren interested? Let us know by emailing classes@thenurserytheatre.com
