Remember the pure fun you had when you played those shortform games? Fancy bringing some of that fun back into your longform performances?
You can do just that in this four-week super elective. First we’ll revisit some shortform games and exercises to find exactly what makes them tick. Then we’ll learn how to integrate them into longform scenes and shows, with the emphasis on joy. And we’ll discover new games, to keep us playing in the spirit of adventure.
It’s all about making ourselves alive to possibility, so that every longform performance becomes a real chance to play.
Syllabus includes:
Replay scenes: the pure unfettered joy of playing scenes over again, and even again and again
Restriction games: how making things difficult can make things fun
The playful spirit: how to delight ourselves, the audience, and our fellow players
Genre: taking the best elements of shortform genre work to do scenes with power and style
If we have to cancel the event due to low numbers, we will do this with 24 hours notice.
This Experienced super elective runs for 4 weeks, 9th Sept.-30th Sept., Thursdays, 7.30-9.30pm UK Time.
Experienced (12 months+) A class for skilful players, especially those who have finished improv training programmes at their school and are looking to widen their horizons. These classes will make the assumption that you are comfortable performing longform improvisation and will push you.
