The Nursery Panel: the Boundaries of Improv

We all know what ‘improv’ means,don’t we? It’s the thing we learn in our classes and perform at our shows. We stand on the stage and make up a scene which is part of a larger series of scenes that are a show that is linked in some way. Maybe there are songs.

But what else could there be? What assumptions are we making that might be limiting us in the work that we make? How could we expand and grow our art form for a demanding and discerning audience? What do we need that others can teach us?

What other fields and artforms should we be learning from?
What are we very wrong about? And how could we be more right?
What things outside improv can help your improv practise?
