First time offering this course!
The perfect mix of longform scenes and music. This longform musical course will have you diving into the Harold structure.
The basis of much longform improvisation, the ‘Harold’ is a 20-30 minute improvisation format composed of scenes and ‘games’ created fresh each time it is played. With its distinctive three-part structure, it gives a sense of coherence and unity to a show, but it is also flexible enough to change with the team, the night and content. Are you a musical improvser who hasn’t studied the Harold? Look into our Organic Harold course HERE

Heather Urquhart trained in Physical Theatre and has studied improvisation at Chicago’s I.O theatre and Annoyance. She improvises with the Olivier Award-winning Showstopper! The ImprovisedMusical and is one of the directors of The Maydays. Her duo improv show ‘Ten Thousand Million Love Stories’ has also toured extensively most recently to Texas, Montreal and Karachi.
Joe Samuels is the Director and Musical Director of The Maydays. He is a classically trained pianist and violinist and is one of only a handful of professional improviser musicians in the world. He has directed and played for a baffling array of improv troupes both in the UK and across Europe as well, as playing at IO in Chicago and being the musical director of Improv Festivals in Barcelona, Poland, Romania, Finland, Dublin and of course at the Maydays own festival.
