Event Details

Level: Intermediate

Often we are taught how to do improv “perfectly” but then you go to an audition, mash-up, or a new class and no one is doing perfect improv. What do you do? Take this workshop!

This workshop will work on what to do when someone throws a curveball in an improv set. We’ll talk about how to recover and how to make your scene partners BOLD choice seem brilliant and continue to have fun in the scene!

What to expect:

How to recover when a scene partner makes a surprising choice

Reconnecting with the number one rule of “Yes, And”

Learning techniques for how to strengthen scenic relationship

Nursery/Maydays Sunday Classes

We work hard to provide a welcoming environment for all improvisers. In order to give space to different experiences and identities, the Nursery and the Maydays have worked to provide opportunities for specific groups to meet, connect, and improvise with one another. Each workshop will cover different topics depending on the instructor. Sometimes sessions will be aimed at particular skills, issues and questions, and other times they will simply be a place for people to come together and play.

The Nursery and the Maydays are constantly working to create programming based on the needs of our current students and the global improv community. If there is an underrepresented group that you would like to see have a workshop, send an email to classes@thenurserytheatre.com

Min. participants 6, max. 12. If we have to cancel the event due to low numbers, we will do this with 24hours notice (and you will receive a warning 48 hours before the course if this looks likely).

This Intermediate workshop runs Sunday 4th July, 5 – 7.30 pm BST.

Intermediate (3 months+) These classes will be opportunities to add tools to your growing toolbox. Normally these classes will expect players to be confident playing scenes. These classes will provide practice and specific new skills.

Whatever the level of ability required, all of our classes are safe, supportive environments led by our experienced teachers. Please email us if you are unsure whether a class is suitable for you. If you sign up for a class inappropriate to your level the Nursery/Maydays reserved the right to remove you from the class without refund.

We offer free places for all online drop-ins and electives in order to make sure that the fun and community of improvisation is available to as many people as possible across the globe.

Free tickets available to those who are unable to afford them.

Option to Buy a place, Give a place – for yourself and a place for someone less able to afford it.

Closed captioning is available in all of our classes and courses. If you need any information on how to access this in zoom, please contact classes@thenurserytheatre.com
