online improv course: advanced puppetry

Advanced Puppetry is the perfect course for anyone looking to combine high level improvisation with the super silly world of homemade puppets. From finger puppets to objects manipulation and fully formed creatures, this course builds on the fundamentals of improvised puppetry already learned. Focusing on scenework, character and reactions you will come out of this course with sharpened skills and understanding of how to instantly bring unforgettable puppets and scenes to life.

Syllabus includes:

Re-visiting the fundamentals of puppetry

Scenework focus

A look at more surreal and abstract scenes

Quick ‘in the moment’ puppet building

Working from connection of breath.

This course ends with an online performance.

Students should have completed our Intro to Puppetry course or approval by the instructor.

Min. participants 6, max. participants 12. If we have to cancel the event due to low numbers, we will do this with 24 hours notice.

This Experienced elective runs Wed 26th May- 14th July, 7.30 pm – 9.30 pm BST

Experienced (18 months+) A class for skilful players, especially those who have finished improv training programmes at their school and are looking to widen their horizons. These classes will make the assumption that you are comfortable performing longform improvisation and will push you.

Whatever the level of ability required, all of our classes are safe, supportive environments led by our experienced teachers. Please email us if you are unsure whether a class is suitable for you. If you sign up for a class inappropriate to your level the Nursery/Maydays reserved the right to remove you from the class without refund.

We offer scholarships for all online courses in order to make sure that the fun and community of improvisation is available to as many people as possible across the globe.
