Humans live, talk and navigate the world through stories and the Nursery’s storytelling module gives you the tools and skills to create and use them in your everyday life.
By learning story structures, techniques and hacks, you will connect scenes and characters in a way that is logical, fluid and satisfying to watch. You will make stories that are driven by emotion, putting your characters through highs and the lows. You will also learn to connect with your audience and charm them by just being yourself onstage.
THE NURSERY STYLE OF IMPROV
The Nursery style of improv is founded on an emotional, theatrical style of play. You don’t have to be an actor to play like this, though it might make you into one! We believe that everyone can be an artist and it will add to your life whether you are a programmer, a nurse, a homemaker, a student or none of the above! You don’t have to have any experience of comedy, theatre or any art-form to begin. The Nursery improv courses will help with your creativity, confidence and performance skills. You will meet new people and have a tonne of fun!
At the Nursery, we are heavily influenced by the emotional truth of iO (Chicago, IL), the delight and theatricality of the Hideout (Austin, TX) and the freewheeling play of Will Luera’s freeform as performed in Boston and more recently in Florida.
The course costs £150 (or a £130 early bird price if bought at least two weeks before the first session) for six evenings 7-9:30 pm. We also offer diversity scholarships for those who are underrepresented in the improvisation community or who would be unable to afford the course.
You can pay for this course in one chunk in full. If you are not able to do this and would like to secure your place with a non-refundable deposit, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
