Level: Open

This Open workshop runs Monday 21st September, 7pm – 9.30pm BST/GMT+1

Open – A class for anyone, regardless of their improv experience. Although more experienced players are of course welcome, the content does not require any prior improv knowledge.

Come join me as we explore Improvised Disaster Movie!

The first disaster movie I remember watching was Towering Inferno, I was hooked! Disaster movies are packed with excitement and great characters. There are so many stories from giant asteroids, deadly weather, viruses, Godzilla, Aliens, earthquakes, buildings on fire, Sharks, man made structures in jeopardy, the list is endless. These movies all follow a similar structure with the hero/heroine battling themselves, the disaster and those who choose not to listen. You have all of humankind in these movies from the selfish to self-sacrifice. You can guarantee someone knows how to fly a helicopter!

In this workshop we are going to look at the key features that make a good Improvised disaster movie and how we can create this world online. We will explore the main character types found in Disaster movies such as the hero/heroine and what personal demons they have to overcome, the antagonist whose goals clash with the hero/heroine, and how these relationships drive the narrative.

Min 4 participants, max 12.

NB: Our electives frequently sell out, but do not despair if this class has. You have not missed your shot. If enough people join the waiting list, we are often able to put the same class on a few days after or in parallel. So if you were excited, join up and we will be in touch.
