Level: intermediate
Stuck for clever things to say on stage? More importantly, do you think fart jokes are funny? We will explore performance that is unashamedly silly; celebrating moments where everyone is laughing, even if no-one knows why. Drawing on traditions of clowning, we emphasise the power of simple gestures, responsiveness to your scene partner and developing scenes intuitively. This course will focus on making sure that everyone is having fun and being generous on stage, while creative ideas flow.
The course will cover:
Getting stupid: Becoming fearlessly silly to free up creativity.
Non-verbal: Learn to communicate & perform intuitively with your face and body.
Finding your funny: Learn how to lean into your unique type of funny.
Working Together: Focusing on being generous and collaborative while performing.
Min participants 6, max participants 12.
If we have to cancel the event due to low numbers, we will do this with 24hours notice (and you will receive a warning 48 hours before the course if this looks likely).
This Intermediate course runs every Saturday for 6 weeks from 9th January to 13th January at 4 pm-6 pm GMT.
Intermediate (3/6 months+) These classes will be opportunities to add tools to your growing toolbox. Normally these classes will expect players to be confident playing scenes. These classes will provide practice and specific new skills.
Whatever the level of ability required, all of our classes are safe, supportive environments led by our experienced teachers. Please email us at classes@thenurserytheatre.com if you are unsure whether a class is suitable for you. If you sign up for a class inappropriate to your level the Nursery/Maydays reserved the right to remove you from the class without refund.
