Castles in the Air – Audition

Castles In The Air brings improvised stories inspired by the films of Studio Ghibli to the London stage in March, as part of the Nursery Originals spring season. Want to create flawed heroes, animal helpers or villains who love their kids? How about embodying misguided spirits, everyday magic or steampunk-style technology? And telling stories about humanity’s love of conflict, impact on the environment or capacity for change?

Let’s tumble into the world of Studio Ghibli together!  We will be improvising stories in the spirit of the films of Hayao Miyazaki, about flawed characters responding emotionally to rich, and sometimes magical, environments. Improvisers will need experience of long-form improvisation and to be a team player. You will also need some (but not necessarily all!) of the following skills:

– Playfulness
– Emotional honesty
– Energy and commitment to characters and scene work
– Flexibility
– Attention to detail
– Giving / building on bold offers

We welcome and encourage applications by performers from all sections of the UK improv community, especially those from currently under-represented groups. If you’re interested in being a part of this show, we’d love to hear from you! Please check the schedule listed below to see if you can make most of the dates, and either of the auditions on Monday 15th and Thursday 18th January at The Nursery Theatre, and click the button to fill in the application form by the deadline of 5pm on Sunday 14th January.
