This workshop is one of many run by the Nursery to create an open and supportive creative space for female-identifying improvisers of all ages and experience levels who may, for whatever reason, feel they would benefit from an all-female class environment in which to learn and play! It’s a safe place to come and be bold and fearless and meet other dynamic women from across the city.
The classes run once a month, and they are stand alone, so you can book one or come along every time. Each workshop is taught by a different teacher and focuses on a specific area of improvisation, and we have some exciting people lined up over the coming months!
This month’s workshop takes pace on Sunday 18th March, 2-5 pm with Kayleigh Cassidy!
Maximizing the Moment: Utilizing Every Moment on Stage (and life)
Maximizing the Moment is a workshop which focuses on making the most out of the improviser. It offers tools and tricks to enhance your presence in any moment on and off stage. How can you be fully in the scene if your mind is wandering elsewhere? How can you listen with your eyes when you’re planning your dinner? This is a fun and dynamic class with exercises to encourage improvisers to animate their space, create environment and enjoy existing in it.
Kayleigh Cassidy is an experienced improviser with over 10-years experience. She trained at IO Chicago and studied clowning in New York and Barcelona while working internationally as a children’s storyteller. Currently she leads The Little Actor Programme in Elephant and Castle and coach’s improvisation group Swipe Right. She has travelled internationally with her classes: Being Magic, Always with Pleasure, Maximising the moment and Silent Scenes. Her teaching methods are based and bubbled with joy. She was an active member of Barcelona Improv Group for 4 years teaching long and short form classes. Kayleigh currently performs with the Brighton and Edinburgh Festival sell out show, Crime Scene Improvisation. She is also a member of the Soho Theatre and is currently studying drag and cabaret. She plays the ukulele and also runs her own comedy night in Kensington called Rollick Comedy Night.
