In conjunction with The City Of London’s Women: Work And Power programme, The Nursery bring you The Campaign – a one-off show in the style of Thick Of It, The West Wing and VEEP.
To celebrate the centenary of the Representation of the People Act, giving women over 30 the right to vote, the Parliament (Qualification of Women) Act, which allowed women over 21 to stand for election, and the election of the first female MP, The Nursery Theatre presents a live improvised political campaign inspired by audience suggestions and polls! Grab a seat at the political event of the century as we discover the personalities and the politics behind the issues that matter. YOUR issues. The Campaign is a fast-paced, backstabbing political drama that’s fully made up on the spot.
Women: Work And Power is a programme of events and activities that examines the struggle for gender equality through the ages while celebrating a number of significant anniversaries in 2018. More info here.
We’re looking for female-identifying improvisers of any age 18+, especially BAME, with at least a year’s experience regularly performing in long form shows.
The show will be fast and verbose as the genre dictates with physical ensemble work as a backdrop. Katy Schutte (The Maydays, Project2, Fright Club) will be directing.
We’ll have three afternoon rehearsals (13, 14, 15 November, 2-5pm) and the show is on 16 November at The Nursery Theatre. Please make sure you can make all three rehearsals and the show before applying. There may be follow up shows at a later date.
Audition is Thursday 1 November 2pm.
Deadline to apply is midnight on Thursday 25 October.
